Fertilise your star jasmine with a balanced fertiliser in late summer (January – February) (5-5-5) to strengthen the leaves and encourage flowers in the next season.
See “Flowering” on feeding to encourage your jasmine to flower.
Prune the star jasmine regularly to keep the plant neat and stimulate dense growth.
Take care with the milky sap that the jasmine secretes as this can irritate the skin and eyes.
Star jasmine grows in soil, clay or loam and tolerates both alkaline and acidic soils.
Star jamine is not a drought tolerant plant, but it doesn’t require a lot of water.
As a rule, keep the soil moist by watering once a week, or twice a week when the weather is particularly hot.
Star jasmine prefers a full sun spot (or full sun during the hottest part of the day). If planted in a pot, move your jasmine to a sunny spot.
Add a ahosphorus heavy plant food (7-9-5) to jolt the star jasmine into blooming.
Propagate Gardenia Jasminoides from seed or stem cuttings. Star Jasmin is propagated by taking semi-hardwood cuttings in summer.
